We will be holding the 2027 Convention Commencement Meeting on Saturday May 30th in El Paso. This year, we are trying something a little different by electing the 2027 Convention Committee prior to the 2026 convention.

Our hope is that this approach will provide the incoming committee with an opportunity to connect with and be mentored by the current committee, while also allowing additional time for planning.

There is no expectation for the 2027 Convention Committee to meet prior to the 2026 convention, especially for those currently serving on this year’s committee, unless they choose to do so. Participation during this time is entirely optional.

We are simply trying this approach to see if it creates more breathing room in the planning process and supports a smoother transition through mentorship.

This is a Regional Convention, and broad regional participation in its planning is essential. It helps ensure we maintain a true regional conscience throughout the process. Today, we no longer face the same barriers we did in years past. Regardless of where the convention is held, members from across the Region can participate in planning and serve in positions. Increased regional participation in the planning process also strengthens unity throughout our Region.
